不知道大家看了昨天的赏析（一），有没有为之心动呢？
接下来，VC和您一起继续今天的MUSIC AND LYRICS之旅。


Sophie和Alex出去散步，开始谈论起Alex那不堪回首的过去，
"To cut a long story short, I gave up trying to write, lost an incredible amount of money and then my apartment."
                        我们不该学习Alex那段不堪的经历，却可以学到一句地道的表达：“To cut a long strong short”;
有时我们在回忆过去的一些事情的时候会说：“Err. It's a long story to tell.” ；那长话短说的表达类似的还有：“Let's make the long story short.”

Alex能把过去的经历都告诉给Sophie听，Sophie也很激动，
"I really appreciate you opening up to me like this."       
                        opening up，这个词组是不是很眼熟呢？中国改革开放就是用的这个词opening up to the outside world。
当然这里的意思是：感谢你能对我如此推心置腹。

Sophie从Alex的经历从获得了灵感，Alex把这句歌词"I've been living with a shadow overhead."加上旋律唱给Sophie听后说：
“Mind you, what do you know, you don't even like melody.”       
                        mind you, 一个口语中经常可以用到的地道词组，意思是“哦，抱歉。”，在重复自己或别人说过的话的时候用。
比如："I refuse to go. Mind you, I‘d like to be there just to see his face. "

Alex刚刚进入工作状态,而Sophie却想去吃早餐了，2人的这段争执很有意思，每句都是押韵的：
"-- I've been living with a shadow overhead
-- There'll be no more rhymes until I'm fed
-- Please, seriously, seriously. I've been living with a shadow overhead
-- I could be inspired with just a piece of bread"       
                        overhead, fed, bread,哈哈，3个简单的词又刚好押韵，不得不佩服剧作者的苦心。看到这里让人会心一笑。

这回轮到Sophie回忆自己的过去了，她自言自语起Sloan Cates对她的评价：
“She could ape Dorothy Parker or Emily Dickinson but stripped of someone else's literary clothes.”       
                        说起模仿，我们能想到的词除了imitate，还有吗？对了, ape也是模仿的意思，只是ape的通常是一种盲目的模仿，带来的通常是荒唐的结果。So, to imitate but not to ape, :)

歌曲终于创作完成了，现在Alex要和Sophie一起录一个样带，而一开始Sophie唱歌象蚊子叫似的，Alex说：
“Just a little bit louder.  This song is intended for humans.”       
                        对了，你的歌是唱给人听的，而不是唱给蚊子听的。下次遇到说话声音小的女生可以试着用下这个句子。切记要面带微笑，表情自然。:)

Alex等人在饭店遇到了Sloan Cates，Alex决定帮助Sophie摆脱心里的阴影，他过去找Sloan，
“It would mean the world if you'd just let her say what she came to say.”       
                        It would mean the world if/that...一个巨实用的句型，“这对于她是意义非凡的...”

回到住处，Alex开始帮助Sophie摆脱心理阴影，
“Okay,here's what I think. I think that the truth is that you are terrifiedof losing Sally Michaels because you'd have nothing to hide behind andyou'd have to stand on your own feet.”

你该自强自立啊，stand on your own feet!       
                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
游乐场的演出之后，Alex问起Chris"You don't know how much money we made, do you?", Chris回答道：
“I have a ballpark figure.”                                                       
                                                        Ballpark figure= estimated number, ball park就是美国的棒球场，ballpark figure就是一个大略的数字的意思。这是一个美国俚语的表达。
                               
                                                                        在Sophie姐姐家吃完饭，Rhonda看起来有点小吃醋，
“Now, that's just uncalled for.  Why do you do that? It just... It hurts, you know?”                                                       
                                                        哦，不适当的，uncalled for, 第一次见到这个词组，记住它。
也许，下次就有机会用上了“Bud, I think it's uncalled for to ask you do this for me although I really want your help.”                       
                                                                                       
                                                                        舞会上，Sophie决定和Cora好好谈谈，Alex却不想让Sophie毁了一个很好的合作机会，他
“She looks like she's about to say something, then just... clams up.”                                                        
                                                        非常形象吧，象蛤蚌一样合上嘴，clam up。又学到了。嘿嘿。                       
                                                                                       
                                                                        录音棚里，Cora唱着Sophie传给她的最后一段的歌词，Alex听得出神了
“I just... I just completely, I don't know, spaced out.”                                                       
                        
                                意识飘到了外太空，spaced out, WOW这个神出得够远的是不是？
记得上课/上班的时候不要space out哦。
